We are Femke and Perry, separately we always said “I could live in France”. After a long friendship of about 20 years, we got into a relationship. After renovating Perry’s house together and living together for 5 years, we both started itching to “live in France” again. So we decided to emigrate with our four-legged friends to the Dordogne to build a new life here.
Perry was an employee and manager of a wholesaler for decoration and floral products. Femke was a florist, worked at a walking service and retrained as a paraveterinarian and did this work for 12 years with great love!
We both take care of the daily business in and around the cottages. Whenever possible, we are working outside, maintaining all the greenery. There is always something to do, mowing the grass, pruning to lumbering and chores on our own house.
We love to welcome our guests. Making sure they can enjoy their well-earned holiday!
Of course, our four-legged friends also require attention. Below is a small introduction:
Ize, passed away 29/11/2024
Our labrador, 10,5 years old she was, we have had since she was 4 years old from a divorce. Ize is a quiet well-behaved sweetheart. A “mother superior” as we call her. Her constitution has let her down from an early age. But with good care, pain medication and nutrition, she is fortunately still enjoying herself.

Huub,
We found Huub along the road on 27 Dec22. He immediately wanted to come with us in the car, so we drove with him past all the people in the immediate area. Nobody knew him, he had no chip and we didn’t get any response from all the authorities that he was missing either. We decided to keep him ourselves. Presumably he belonged to a hunter and not well enough, as we have already had him operated on his knee, for 2 times now. Huub is a huge happy adolescent and likes everything and everyone!

Maku,
Maku is a dog with quite a backpack. As a puppy, she was put in a bucket with her brother and sister at the shelter in Spain. This is where she lived for the first 3 years. Her only socialisation were the fellow shelter dogs and her caretakers. After these 3 years, she joined a family where things did not go well. She found everything scary. We take her and put a lot of time and training into her, she is so happy and she is doing so good but unfortunately the backpack will never be empty. She does her best tremendously. Has much less stimuli here and enjoys her freedom immensely!

Our cats Tijger Teertje and Joepie
